之光县是1941年1月，为便于抗日斗争，清苑区以张（登）保（定）公路为界，分为两县。路东称之光县，路西仍称泰州。1944年10月，为集中领导抗日军民进行战略大反攻，清苑、之光两县合并，初称之光县，次年改称清苑县。之光县的名字，是为纪念李之光烈士命名的。

李之光（1903—1940）原名李致光，安新老河头镇李家村人。曾任冀中区党委常委、社会部长、冀中行署公安局长等职。
