通常指用于热敏纸的无色隐色体染料。

遇到酸性物质（如双酚A等）变成有色结构。

将染料与助剂及显色剂与助剂分别制成微胶囊，涂布在纸张上，遇热微胶囊破裂，显色剂和染料相互作用而呈现颜色。

常用的染料多为荧内类化合物。
