赤坎区寸金路，因始于寸金桥而得名。

寸金桥是赤坎一座著名的纪念桥，为纪念1898－1899年遂溪县人民反抗法国侵占湛江市的斗争，1925年建成后命名为寸金桥，赋予祖国河山“寸土寸金”之寓意。
