概述

乾道六年（1170），范成大以起居郎、假资政殿大学士官衔，充祈国信使，出使金朝，为改变接纳金国诏书礼仪和索取河南省“陵寝”地事，范成大在金国“词气慷慨”，相机折冲，维护了宋廷的威信，全节而归，并写成使金日记《揽辔录》。
