原为节肢动物门的一亚门，现并入气管亚门，作为一纲，称原气管纲（Prototracheata）。

体长，呈管状，很像蠕虫。体节分界极不明显。头部有单眼一对，触角一对。胸部与腹部的界限不明显，合成躯干部。躯干部每节有一对疣状足，不分节，而末端各有两个小钩爪。用气管呼吸。

产于热带，非洲中部、马来半岛、美洲中部均有分布。

代表种类如栉蚕（Peripatus）。
