外交贡献

吉田健三在任期间，中日两国在政治、经济、文化、科学技术等各个领域的交流都取得了很大的发展。1980年，中国在札幌、日本在广州市设立总领事馆。1981年，两国就建立中日友好医院、日本向中国提供“文化无偿合作”、保护候鸟及其栖息环境等问题签订协议。
