洪遵（528～608），相州（今河南安阳）人，俗姓时。他八岁到少林寺出家，跟从师父资云，后遍访丛林，参学问法，佛法日精。北齐朝庭授予他“断事沙门”，负责处理僧人违反佛教戒律之事。隋时，文帝也封洪遵为官，但他仍住在少林寺内。杨坚开皇七年（587年），洪遵被举召赴京，与天竺僧一起翻译佛经，后受敕命为众僧讲律宗，为一代律宗大师。
