庆原路成立于金朝皇统二年（1142年），由当时的泾原路和环庆路合并而成，行政中心设在庆阳府，即现在的甘肃庆阳市。该行政区域的范围大致覆盖了现今甘肃省的环州、镇原县、泾川县等县东部地区，以及陕西省的永寿县、淳化等县北部地区，包括泾河中游及环江流域。到了元朝时期，庆原路被废除。
