褚华，农学家、史地专家，上海市县人。著有《沪城备考》6卷，对上海县的隶属、历史变迁、界域范围以及水道、古迹、社会、人物均有记载，被认为是“订正嘉庆（上海）县志而作”。

他对农事亦颇有心得，著有《木棉谱》、《水蜜桃谱》等书，对研究上海地区物产、农业科技颇有价值。《木棉谱》对当时的纺棉用三绽脚踏纺车研制、运作有详细描述。
