仙女峰位于黄山北海景区始信峰东，邻近石笋矼，海拔1650米，不在72峰之列。深壑之中，一峰突兀，独出云表，淡妆素裹，秀姿娇娆，颇似靓妆玉女，故此得名。

此峰又名“美女峰”、“神女峰”。明代凌炯有诗赞曰：“髻是岚兮线是烟，恰如飞燕号留仙。望夫羞作胭脂虎，饮药甘为玉露蝉。苔没香尘单冷，花沾薄袖舞衫鲜。云来锁却延秋月，不与人间学许淫。
