天鹅座A它是在20世纪50年代射电望远镜刚刚投入使用时发现的。它最大的特征是有两个巨大的发出射电辐射的瓣状结构，并且可以明显看到射电瓣通过狭长的喷流与中心暗弱的椭圆星系相连。整个星系从一个瓣到另一个瓣延展超过50万光年。
