从普宁池尾大圆向北方向，穿过燎原街道镇区，大坝镇，在洪阳镇与省道S237线相交后从广太镇进入揭阳市，是普宁市南北向的主要交通道路，是联接普宁市区与北部重镇——洪阳镇的交通主干道。

也是潮州市、揭阳市、普宁市等粤东城市连接珠三角地区的陆路重要通道。在粤东公路网布局中有着极其重要的地位。
