银城县，位于今神木市东山旧城，是北周保定市二年（公元562年）由石城县移治并更名的地名。隋大业末年，银城县被废除。

唐贞观二年（公元628年）复设银城县，属麟州。四年属银州区。八年复属麟州。北宋移治今窟野河畔的山头上。北宋政和四年（1114年）省银城县入新秦县。
