新美村是漳州市平和县五寨乡下辖村，全村有9个村民小组，农户589户，人口2248人；现有耕地面积1840亩，人均0.818亩；林地面积5400亩，人均2.44亩；全村种植蜜柚、水稻2350亩，其他经济农作物4250亩。近年来，新美村的村民充分利用与厦漳泉相邻的地缘优势，全村近一半人口到漳州、厦门市务工。
