鲑科(Salmonidae)北美西部具黑斑的游钓鱼类 下腭下方具鲜红的条纹，故名。会主动攻击假蝇饵、钓饵、诱饵。被视为上好的食用鱼，一般体重达1.8公斤(4磅)。

亦译山鳟。

只要可能，许多个体即洄游入海，像其他种的海洋型一样，被称为海鳟，亦几年内不返回淡水中。有许多亚种，如塔霍湖(Tahoe)鳟、黄鳍鳟、黄石鳟，同样都有红色线纹。
